Agricultural Crops Insurance
Owners or tenants of agricultural land are insured under this insurance.
The subject of the insurance is:
- the harvest from agricultural crops and from orchards, vegetable gardens, rose gardens, blackberry gardens, vineyards, strawberry fields, raspberry fields, cultivated rose hips, cultivated blackberries, and blackcurrants;
- vegetable nurseries, mother plants, rootstocks, medicinal plants, and hops;
- seedlings, seedbeds, flowers for seed and sale, and crops in greenhouses and hothouses.
The insurance is concluded on the basis of a written application form completed by the insured party and a list of the agricultural crops offered for insurance with the corresponding area and sum insured.
Coverage under this insurance is provided for quantitative damage to the crop due to mechanical damage (breaking, tearing, falling, mechanical damage to leaves, shoots, stems, and fruits, breaking of entire plants).
The insurance amount per decare for individual crops is determined by mutual agreement, but should be consistent with market conditions and production capabilities in the area and may not exceed the actual value of the crop determined on the basis of the maximum selling price that can be realized at the end of the planned storage period. This value is finally calculated only after the expiry of the usual one-year insurance period, and in the case of seasonal storage, after the end of the season.
The insurance premium is determined depending on the amount of the insured sum, the type of crop insured, the area of crops sown/planted/transplanted, the risk class of the area in which the insured object is located, and the selected insurance coverage.
In the event of damage, the insured shall notify the insurer in a timely manner. The inspection and assessment of damage to agricultural crops shall be carried out by a commission composed of a representative of the insurer, assisted by an expert agronomist, in the presence of the insured or his representative.
Bonuses and discounts – the insurer shall provide bonuses in the absence of damage for the previous period, for large insured areas, and others as agreed.
