Motor Third Party Liability

What is Motor Third Party Liability insurance?

• Compulsory Motor Third Party Liability insurance for all persons who own a motor vehicle that is registered or is to be registered in the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
• The insurance covers the liability of insured individuals and legal entities for property damage and non-property damage caused by them to third parties in connection with the ownership and/or use of the motor vehicle specified in the policy, for which the insured are liable under Bulgarian law or the law of the country in which the damage occurred;

Insurance coverage:

• covers the liability of the owner, user, and keeper of the motor vehicle for which there is a valid insurance contract, as well as any person who drives or uses the motor vehicle specified in the policy on a legal basis;
• intended for non-pecuniary and pecuniary damage caused to third parties as a result of bodily injury or death; Damage caused to third-party property.

Territorial coverage:

• the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria in accordance with the applicable legislation of the Republic of Bulgaria;
• the territory of all other countries whose national insurers' bureau is a member of the Green Card system;
• the territory of a third country, where the damage was caused to persons from a Member State, in cases of travel between the territories of two Member States and provided that there is no national insurance bureau responsible for that territory.

Term of coverage:

• Coverage begins on the date and time specified as the start date in your policy. Insurance coverage ends on the date and time specified as the end date in the policy.
• In the event of non-payment or partial payment of an installment by the due date specified in the policy, coverage under the policy shall terminate at 24:00 on the 15th day after the due date or on another date expressly specified in the policy.

How do I pay?

• The insurance premium is payable in a single installment or in installments, in the manner and amount agreed in the insurance contract.
• You can pay the insurance premium at the offices of JSIC "OZK - Insurance" throughout the country, at your insurance intermediary, at the offices of all insurance brokers - partners of JSIC "OZK - Insurance" AD.
• For policies issued on deferred payment, you can pay the next installment due at www.online.ozk.bg/vnoska

In the event of an insured event:

• notify the competent authorities when required by law;
• notify the insurer of the event and provide detailed information about the circumstances surrounding it; cooperate with the insurer during its investigation of the event;
• do not leave the scene of the accident until the competent authorities arrive in the cases provided for by law, except in cases of need for urgent medical assistance in a medical facility;
• provide the injured person with the information necessary to file a claim with the insurer under the Third Party Liability insurance.

When and how can I terminate the contract?

• You can terminate the compulsory motor Third Party Liability insurance contract after it has come into force by sending a written notice to together with the originals of the insurance policy and the Green Card certificate provided to you and a mark issued by the Guarantee Fund, in the event of any of the following circumstances:

1. change in ownership of the motor vehicle specified in the policy - the new owner may unilaterally terminate the contract, but only after the policy has been transferred;
2. scrapping of the motor vehicle - upon presentation of an official note or a stamp "Scrapped" on the registration certificate, or a perforated laminated registration certificate from the relevant competent authorities;
3. the motor vehicle has been unlawfully seized - upon presentation of a decision to suspend criminal proceedings, i.e. a document certifying that the motor vehicle has not been found on the date of issue of the document;
4. the motor vehicle has been taken out of service - upon presentation of an official note issued by the Traffic Police
